The Method

From Photograph to Painting

Every portrait begins with getting to know the animal behind the photograph. Together, we'll choose the reference images, size, and direction that will best capture their individual character and spirit.

01. Getting to Know Your Animal

We'll talk about your animal—their personality, the expression you love, and what makes them unmistakably them. I'll help you select the photographs that will give me what I need to create the portrait.

02. The Painting

I begin with an expressive abstract ground, then build the portrait in layers of transparent color and painted detail. The goal isn't simply a likeness. It's that moment when you look at the painting and say, “That's my animal.”

03. Finishing & Delivery

Once complete, your portrait is carefully finished to enrich the color and depth while providing a durable protective surface. It is then prepared for its new home, with local pickup or shipping available when needed.
